Senior Director Of Accounting at Kobalt Music

Darren Rodney has extensive experience in the music industry, particularly in finance and accounting roles. Darren started their career at Sony Music Entertainment in 2004 as a Systems Analyst, working on system issues resulting from the SONY/Bertelsmann Group merger and helping distribute royalties to artists. Darren then became the Manager of Digital Operations at Legacy Recordings, where they led a digital group and managed the release of over 5,000 digital products, resulting in revenue of over 5 million dollars. Darren later became the Associate Director of Digital Operations at Legacy Recordings, where they were responsible for scheduling and delivering digital products and was selected to represent the company in a worldwide steering committee and collaborate on revamping the Digital Supply Chain. Darren then transitioned to the role of Finance Manager at The Thread Shop, where they managed all areas of finance and accounting and successfully transitioned the company from cash-based to accrual-based accounting. Darren returned to Sony Music Entertainment as the Director of Finance, Marketing for RCA Records, managing a marketing budget of approximately $40 million dollars and conducting monthly financial analysis. Lastly, they joined Kobalt Music as the Senior Director of Accounting and played a key role in the sale of the company's Recording Label and Neighboring Rights business unit to Sony Music Entertainment, as well as in the sale of Kobalt Music to Francisco Partners.

Darren Rodney attended Berklee College of Music from 2001 to 2003, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Music Business. Following this, they pursued further education at NYU Stern School of Business, earning a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Accounting and Finance from 2007 to 2010.
