Espree Essig

Exploration Project Geologist at KoBold Metals

Espree is a geologist who has been exposed to exploration at all stages: from greenfield to remediation. Growing up on the Mesabi Iron Range in northeastern Minnesota she has been intrigued by ore systems throughout her life and is inspired to contribute to the future’s metal demands through exploration success.

She earned a B.S. (Hons.) in Geology from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, and is finishing up her M.S. in Geology from Michigan Technological University where her research focuses on investigating exploration solutions in buried/vegetation-covered terranes. She is enthusiastic about unique targeting approaches using data visualization, geochemistry, and creativity.

Prior to starting her graduate program, she worked for Eagle Mine (Lundin Mining Company) as a member of their exploration team. She has spent considerable time thinking about how to find magmatic sulfide deposits in and after this role, where she helped with greenfield/brownfield target development, drill campaign oversite/operations, and resource delineation.
