Vice President of Engineering at Kognic

Jakob Andersson has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Jakob started their career as a Web Developer at Ericsson in 2008. Jakob later served as a Vice Speaker and Speaker of the Council at Chalmers Student Union, demonstrating their skills in leadership and strategic thinking.

In 2010, Jakob joined Goteborgs Studenters Foretagsgrupp AB as a Board Member, gaining experience in establishing a new business. Jakob also served as a Board Member at Chalmers Studentkars Restaurang Lindholmen AB, where they contributed to the development of the restaurant and conference business.

Jakob worked at Cybercom as a Consultant and later as a Senior Consultant from 2011 to 2016. During this time, they spread best practices for software development in the embedded world and developed expertise in robotics, active safety, machine learning, and other intelligent algorithms.

From 2011 to 2016, Jakob also had multiple roles at Volvo Car Group, including Function Developer, Software Architect, and Software Project Lead. Jakob played a key role in developing software for autonomous vehicles and active safety systems while ensuring high quality and compliance with industry standards.

In 2016, Jakob joined Berge as a Deep Learning Consultant and then as a Team Leader AI. Jakob led the deep learning team, providing coaching, culture management, sales, and recruitment. Jakob also assisted companies in understanding and deploying machine learning to transform their business models.

Jakob's next role was at Consid AB, where they worked as a Machine Learning Architect. Jakob helped customers build machine learning applications, focusing on problem framing, data collection, annotation consistency, and product architecture.

In 2018, Jakob co-founded Gothenburg Artificial Intelligence Alliance (GAIA) and served as the Chairman of the non-profit association. GAIA promotes artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science in Gothenburg through conferences and events.

Their most recent position is at Kognic, where they started in 2018 as MedTech Lead, expanding the annotation platform to medical images. Jakob then served as Customer Success, Team Lead Professional Services, and currently holds the role of Vice President of Engineering. In this position, Jakob leads the Engineering department and is responsible for developing Kognic's platform, focusing on automating annotation, Bayesian analytics, web app development, and cloud deployment.

Throughout their career, Jakob has demonstrated expertise in software development, machine learning, project management, leadership, and business development.

Jakob Andersson began their education journey in the year 2000 at Elof Lindälvs Gymnasium, where they completed their secondary education. From 2003 to 2011, they attended Chalmers University of Technology and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Engineering Physics. During the same period, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Complex Adaptive Systems from Chalmers University of Technology, which they obtained in 2011.

In 2007, Jakob Andersson also briefly studied Business Administration at the University of Gothenburg for one year. Moving forward, they obtained various certifications in the field of Machine Learning. In October 2012, they completed the "Machine Learning" certification course from Coursera. Later, in January 2016, they acquired two additional certifications, namely "Practical Machine Learning" and "R Programming," also from Coursera.
