Principal Scientist at Koliber Biosciences

Billyana is Principal Scientist at Koliber Biosciences where she leads immune cell assay development. Billyana has 20 years of experience in a broad range of research areas including genomics, synthetic biology, immunology, biochemistry and mass spectrometry. She has led R&D teams and managed complex projects that resulted in commercialization of numerous research tools such as multi-fragment DNA assembly kit - GENEART® Seamless Cloning and Assembly Kit (Life Technologies), Gibson Assembly® HiFi Kit (Synthetic Genomics) and custom library prep reagents for next-gen sequencing (Illumina). She served on the faculty of Mira Costa Community College where she developed the biomanufacturing curriculum for training the next generation of lab associates supporting the San Diego biotechnology industry. Billyana received her B.S. and M.S. degrees from University of Sofia, Ph.D. degree from State University of New York and her postdoctoral training from The Scripps Research Institute.
