Gabriele Gerbino has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Gabriele started their career at Cisco in 2015 as a participant in the Cisco Engineering Incubator Program. In 2015, they also joined Network to Code as a Network Software Engineer, where they built tools to automate processes and worked with platforms like Cisco IOS, Arista EOS, JunOS, and PANOS.
In 2017, Gerbino moved to Fastly and took on the role of a Software Engineer, later transitioning to a Senior Software Engineer position. During their time at Fastly, they focused on the Network Management Platform team under the Network Systems group. Here, they collaborated with infrastructure teams to address operators' needs and worked on developing tools and systems to configure, handle, and monitor Fastly's global network of POP. Gabriele also played a role in achieving driver-less/self-healing networks using various technologies and languages such as Python, Golang, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, StackStorm, gPRC, REST, and CI/CD.
Most recently, in 2022, Gerbino joined Kong Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer.
Gabriele Gerbino earned a Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Università di Catania, completing the program from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2013, Gabriele Gerbino obtained a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the same university. Before joining the university, in 2008 and 2009, they attended the Cisco Networking Academy and obtained a CCNA certification in Computer Networks. In terms of additional certifications, Gabriele Gerbino obtained the Brocade Certified vRouter Engineer (BCVRE) certification from Brocade in August 2015, the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification from Cisco in May 2011, and the Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA) certification from Juniper Networks in July 2015.
