Maarten Frieswijk

Maarten Frieswijk has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Maarten started their career at Aardappelhandel Ger Verkerk BV as a Sales and Acting Store Manager from September 1999 to June 2001. Maarten then worked as a Summer Intern at Gemeente Den Haag in 2002. In the same year, they also had a Summer Internship at the University of Porto. In 2003, Maarten completed an Internship at Gemeente Den Haag, followed by two consecutive Internships at Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in 2003 and 2004. From 2003 to 2005, they worked as a Teaching Assistant in Archaeology at Leiden University. Maarten then joined Nationale-Nederlanden as a Competency Advisor on behalf of Interfocus Groep from May 2006 to December 2006. In 2007, they worked in Facilities/Marketing at Brill. At Brill, they held various roles including Associate Editor from August 2008 to December 2018, Head of Global Sales Support since December 2018, and President of the Works Council from May 2013 to May 2017. Throughout their career, Maarten has gained experience in sales, management, editing, and personnel representation.

Maarten Frieswijk's education history is as follows:

From 2000 to 2001, they attended Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, where they studied History Teacher Education.

In 2001, they transferred to Leiden University and pursued a field of study in Archaeology until 2002.

From 2002 to 2007, they continued their education at Leiden University, specializing in Classical, Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Studies and Archaeology.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Frieswijk has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2010, they became an Emergency Response Officer after completing training at the Nederlands Instituut voor Bedrijfshulpverlening. In 2012, they received Editorial Manager Training Levels I, II, and III from Aries Systems Corporation. Later, in 2013, they obtained the Bronze Phish Level certificate in the Basics of Cyber Resilience from Phished. Most recently, in 2022 and 2023, they completed Digital Leadership training at Growth Tribe and achieved the Professional level in Editorial Manager Training.
