Alison Tanker

Founding Partner & Creative Director at Korda Institute for Teaching

Alison Tanker has a diverse work experience in the field of entrepreneurship and social impact. Alison is currently the Founding Partner & Creative Director at the Korda Institute for Teaching, a role they have held since 2017. Prior to that, they worked as the Assistant Director of Entrepreneurial Studies at Hawken School from 2015 to 2017, where they co-taught an Entrepreneurial Studies course and helped build the Educators Program.

From 2013 to 2015, Alison was the Founding Director of Tigress, a social enterprise empowering young female changemakers. Alison developed curriculum, delivered workshops, and formed partnerships with high schools and universities. Tigress later evolved into Tigress Effect, an online platform empowering young women.

In 2012, Alison worked as a Regional Project Management Consultant at the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship - Caribbean, where they developed an expansion strategy and managed preparatory activities. Alison also served as a Special Project Consultant at Wakami World, creating a methodology and evaluating impact indicators, and as a Business Development Consultant at Good Hotel Antigua.

Earlier in their career, Alison was the Operations Manager at Outdoor Expeditions in 2012 and a Field Consultant at Community Empowerment Solutions from 2010 to 2011, where they supported entrepreneurs, facilitated experiential learning, and co-developed a scaling strategy. Alison also held multiple roles at Edun Live on Campus from 2007 to 2010, including President, VP of Operations, and Expansion Coordinator.

Alison's educational background includes a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Social Entrepreneurship from Miami University, where they were involved in Edun Live On Campus, a student-run ethical t-shirt company with a focus on alleviating poverty in Africa through sustainable employment.

Alison Tanker completed their education in a chronologically ordered manner. From 2006 to 2010, they attended Miami University, where they pursued an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Social Entrepreneurship. Following this, from 2022 to 2023, they enrolled at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences for a Postgraduate Degree in Dance Movement Therapy.
