Markus A. Eugster

Markus A. Eugster has a diverse and extensive work experience. Markus A. has held various leadership positions in the insurance and financial services industry. From 2018, they served as the CEO of Korean Re Switzerland, where they established and operated their first international reinsurance subsidiary. Prior to this, they worked as a Business Angel & Investor at MA Eugster Consulting, where they focused on investing in European deep-tech start-ups and leading expansion and turnaround projects. Markus A. also held the role of CEO at Sompo Canopius Re from 2016 to 2019. Before that, they served as the CMO of XL Catlin Re EMEA in 2015 and as the Chief Underwriting Officer at Catlin Re Switzerland from 2010 to 2015. Markus began their career at Swiss Re in 1998, where they held the position of Managing Director and was responsible for global business and strategy development in the Credit Solutions division. Markus A. also worked as a Vice President at Credit Suisse, specializing in commercial banking in Latin America. Markus started their career as a Research Assistant at the University of St.Gallen, where they focused on constitutional law and political systems.

Markus A. Eugster earned their Ph.D. in International Affairs and Political Economy from the University of St. Gallen, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Prior to that, they obtained an M.A. in International Affairs and Governance from the same university, studying from 1985 to 1991. Eugster completed their secondary education at Kantonsschule am Burggraben, receiving a Matura Typus B degree in 1985.
