John Shinol

John Shinol is a seasoned geoscientist currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Chief Geoscientist at Kosmos Energy since April 2018, overseeing worldwide exploration and geoscience efforts. Prior to this role, John held key positions at Cobalt International Energy, focusing on geophysical activities and leading teams responsible for significant discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa. With a strong foundation in geophysics and geology, evidenced by a Master of Science from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University, John has been instrumental in various significant oil discoveries throughout a career spanning several leading energy companies, including Unocal and Chevron.
