Esteban Sotomayor Puerto

Esteban Sotomayor Puerto has a strong background in legal and compliance roles. Esteban is currently working at Kravata as the Head of Legal & Chief Compliance Officer, where they are responsible for designing and enforcing anti-money laundering/terrorist financing compliance programs. Esteban also assesses and manages other legal risks such as fraud and data privacy through the compliance program. Additionally, Esteban performs due diligence and enhanced due diligence on clients and investors. Prior to this, they worked as a Compliance Officer at EXUPERY S.A.S for a brief period in early 2022. Esteban's previous experience includes working at Jaime Granados as a Senior Attorney and Pro Bono Department Manager from 2012 to 2021. In this role, they successfully defended over 100 clients before criminal courts and regulatory and disciplinary authorities.

Esteban Sotomayor Puerto has an extensive education history in the legal and compliance fields. Starting with their most recent education, in 2022, they completed a Diplomado in Sarlaft 4.0 at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Previously, from 2021 to 2022, they pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) in Corporate Global Compliance at IE Law School. Esteban'seducational journey continued in 2020 to 2021, where they obtained a Master's degree in Risk Management from EALDE Business School. In 2021, they also participated in the US Corporate Law and Governance Program at New York University School of Law.

Prior to these programs, Esteban undertook an Especialización en Derecho Penal (Specialization in Criminal Law) from Universidad del Rosario, completing it from 2012 to 2014. Earlier in their academic career, they earned a degree in Law (Abogado) with a focus on Criminal Law from Universidad del Rosario, spanning from 2007 to 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Esteban has further enhanced their qualifications by obtaining the Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional - International (CCEP-I) certification from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) in February 2023.
