Kate M.

Kate M. has extensive experience in product design and management, with a focus on user experience. Kate currently holds the position of Principal Product Designer at Kuali, Inc. since April 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Product Designer at the same company from August 2019 to May 2023.

Before joining Kuali, Inc., Kate served as a Senior Product Designer at Lumen Learning from January 2018 to May 2019. In 2017, they briefly worked as the Lead Product Manager at Nike Innovation Accelerator Lab from September to December.

From 2016 to 2017, Kate held the role of Senior Product Manager at Instructure, Inc. Kate also worked as a Product Manager at Instructure from April 2014 to July 2016. Kate's experience with Instructure began with their role as a Product Manager at 12 Spokes, a company that was acquired by Instructure in 2012. At 12 Spokes, they were responsible for market research, product strategy, product ownership, and cross-functional leadership.

Prior to their work at Instructure, Kate co-founded Skillcrush in February 2012, where they served as a Product Designer and Co-Founder until September 2013. Kate also co-founded Balance Media in September 2010, where they worked as a Product Designer and Co-Founder until September 2013.

Before entering the field of product design and management, Kate gained experience as a Freelance UX Designer from April 2007 to September 2010. Kate also worked as a Freelance Senior UX Designer at Audible, Inc. from April 2010 to June 2010. Earlier in their career, Kate worked as a Graphic Designer at Salt Lake magazine from November 2006 to July 2008.

Kate M. obtained their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Visual Communications: Graphic Design from Utah Valley University, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Kate has also acquired several additional certifications throughout their career. In 2016, they became Pragmatic Marketing Certified - Level Five (PMC-V) through Pragmatic Marketing. In 2019, Kate obtained a certification in UX Research & Strategy from Designlab. Most recently, in 2023, they completed a certification titled "Leading Complex Projects" from IDEO U.
