Tao Wu

Tao Wu has extensive work experience in the field of biosciences and pharmaceuticals. They are currently serving as the Senior Director and Head of CMC at Kumquat Biosciences Inc. since January 2023. Prior to this role, they worked as the Director and Head of CMC at Kumquat Biosciences Inc. from March 2021 to January 2023.

Before joining Kumquat Biosciences Inc., Tao Wu was an Associate Director of CMC at Zentalis Pharmaceuticals from December 2019 to March 2021. In this role, they led GMP API productions and process optimization for a phase 1 clinical program, resulting in a significant reduction in cost of goods and improved quality control. They also managed multiple CDMOs to ensure timely supply of GMP API and non-GMP starting materials.

Tao Wu's previous experience includes working as an Associate Director of Medchem/CMC at Wellspring Biosciences/Kumquat Biosciences from January 2018 to December 2019. Prior to this, they were a Senior Scientist and Project Leader at Wellspring Biosciences from January 2015 to December 2017, and a Scientist II and Project Leader from May 2013 to December 2014.

They started their career in 2006 as a Postdoc Fellow at GNF and later became an Institute Fellow from August 2008 to August 2010. Prior to this, they worked as a Staff Scientist at Life Technologies from August 2010 to May 2013, focusing on the development of carriers for nucleic acid-based biologics. They also gained research experience as a Research Associate at the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry from July 1999 to July 2001.

Tao Wu completed their Master's degree in Fine Chemicals from Dalian University of Technology from 1996 to 1999. They then pursued a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Iowa State University from 2001 to 2006.
