Brendan Sweeney has extensive work experience in the public radio industry. Brendan worked at KUOW Public Radio as the Director of New Content & Innovation starting in August 2018. Prior to that, they were the Managing Producer from March 2017 to July 2018.
Before joining KUOW, Brendan worked at WAMU 88.5 for several years. Brendan held the position of Managing Producer, overseeing the piloting and rollout of new podcasts and on-air series. Brendan also organized regular speaker series, listening sessions, and trainings for the content staff, and chaired the search committee for critical station hires.
During their time at WAMU, Brendan also served as the Managing Producer from December 2012 to April 2015, setting the editorial direction and programming calendar for a flagship local public affairs program. Brendan managed a team of producers and led editorial meetings to develop story angles. Prior to that, Brendan was a producer at WAMU, where they identified topics for the daily public affairs program, wrote and edited show scripts and web stories, and directed live broadcasts.
Brendan Sweeney pursued their education at the New York University from 1998 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History. Brendan then went on to The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2003 to 2004 to obtain a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Development Studies.
