Takaharu Kawahara is an experienced executive currently serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Kuraray America, Inc., a position held since February 2022. Kawahara has been with Kuraray since January 2018, previously holding roles as Officer and General Manager of the Technology division, as well as Executive Officer and General Manager of Production and Technology Management division. Prior to this, Kawahara was Vice President of Operations and Technology at Kuraray Europe GmbH from January 2015 to December 2017. Kuraray was established in 1926 in Kurashiki City with the objective of commercializing rayon. Following WWII, the Company commercialized synthetic fiber, which was invented in Japan, and developed a series of unique businesses, including the man-made leather CLARINO, developed as a substitute for natural leather, polyester textiles, non-woven fabrics KURAFLEX, and the hook-and-loop fastener MAGIC TAPE.
