Hyungkyu Ryu

Hyungkyu Ryu has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Hyungkyu currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Kurly since September 2021. In their previous roles, they worked as a Developer & Operator at maniadb.com, where they developed the largest Korean music digital archive. Hyungkyu also worked as a Tech Strategy Lead at Kakao Corp from October 2017 to September 2021. Before that, they held the position of Team Lead (VP) at (\uc8fc)\uc774\ub9c8\ud2b8 (EMART Inc.) from December 2016 to October 2017, focusing on future retail innovation and new business development. Hyungkyu also worked as a Team Lead (VP) at Shinsegae I&C from April 2015 to November 2016, where they focused on future retail innovation and studied various technologies. Prior to that, they served as a Senior Director, Group Leader at SK planet from November 2012 to March 2015, and as a Director, Head of Music Service Division at NCsoft from July 2008 to October 2012. Hyungkyu started their career as a Manager, Part Leader at SK Telecom from January 2004 to July 2008 and also worked as a Senior Manager at Widerthan from December 2002 to December 2003. Additionally, they founded and served as the CTO of All Solutions Group (kpopdb) from February 2001 to December 2002, where they developed the largest k-pop music archive and copyright management system.

Hyungkyu Ryu has a Ph.D. candidate degree in Management Engineering (Database) from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, which they completed from 1998 to 2001. Hyungkyu also holds a graduate degree in Management Engineering from the same institute, obtained from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, completed from 1992 to 1996. Hyungkyu Ryu finished their secondary education at Seoul Science High School from 1990 to 1992.
