Director Global Marketing Communications at Kwik Lok

Karen Reed has over 20 years of experience in communications and marketing. From 2000 to 2017, they worked at Seattle Public Utilities as a Communications Director, where they developed and implemented outreach and engagement strategies for the Capital Improvement program. Prior to that, from 2000 to 2008, they were a Community Outreach Supervisor at the same organization. Since 2018, Karen has been the Director of Global Marketing Communications at Kwik Lok Corporation, where they oversee the integrated communications strategy for the company's global corporate communications, including marketing, promotion, brand development, media relations, digital media, and employee communications.

Karen Reed completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree in Communications from Northwestern University from 1983 to 1987.

In 2004, Karen attended the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington for a course in "Resolving Conflict and Building Consensus."

In 2005, Karen also attended the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington for a course in "Managing Organizational Change."

Karen has obtained multiple certifications, including "Innovating Out of Crisis," "Microsoft Collaboration: SharePoint, Teams, Groups, and Yammer," "Learning Design for Sustainability," "Using Questions to Foster Critical Thinking and Curiosity," "Managing Stress for Positive Change," "Social Selling with LinkedIn," "Customer Service: Serving Internal Customers," "Communicating in Times of Change," "Systematic Development of Informed Consent," and "Advanced Public Information Officers Course." The institutions from which they obtained these certifications include LinkedIn and IPMP: Institute for Participatory Management & Planning. The certifications were obtained between 2008 and 2021.
