Bjoern Oest Hansen has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of agriculture and biological data analysis. Bjoern Oest has worked as a Sr. Research Lead - Knowledge Discovery at KWS Group, where they guided a team in utilizing advanced analytics, large language models, and graph technologies to improve plant breeding. Bjoern Oest also worked as a Research Lead, Senior Scientist, and Data Scientist at KWS Group, focusing on implementing solutions for gene discovery and developing data science strategies.
Before joining KWS Group, Bjoern worked as a PhD student at Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology, where they worked with transcriptomics, biological networks, and graph theory for protein function prediction. Bjoern Oest also founded a company called OmicsDriven, specializing in handling and analyzing biological data using Neo4J graph-based databases and powerful algorithms.

Bjoern Oest Hansen obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Biology-Biotechnology from Den Kgl. Veterinær- og Landbohøjskole in 2009. Bjoern Oest then pursued a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Biotechnology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 2009 to 2012. In 2010 to 2011, Bjoern attended Copenhagen Business School for the Biobusiness and Innovation Programme. Bjoern Oest also took a course in Pharmaceutical Bioinformatics at Uppsala University in 2011. Bjoern is currently working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at MPI-MP/Potsdam University.
