John Zhao

John Zhao is an experienced professional in process development, currently serving as the Director of Process Development at Kytopen since November 2020, with prior roles including Associate Director and Senior Scientist. At bluebird bio, from July 2017 to November 2020, John led efforts in media formulation and bioreactor optimization related to Next-Gen CAR-T processes and developed cryopreservation methods for cellular therapies. Their foundational experience includes a Laboratory Manager position at the Institute of Molecular Cardiology and a Processing Technician role at Regenerex, where John contributed to hematopoietic stem cell product manufacturing. Educationally, John Zhao holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering, along with a minor in Applied Economics and Management, from Cornell University.
