Ruben Diaz-Avalos

Ruben Diaz-Avalos is a Senior Research Scientist at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology since March 2019, with extensive experience in structural biology and electron cryomicroscopy. Prior to this, Diaz-Avalos served as Principal Senior Scientist at NanoImaging Services and held a Senior Scientist position at Howard Hughes Medical Institute from March 2014 to August 2018. Additional roles include Director of Electron Imaging at UC Davis and Technical Director at the New York Structural Biology Center. Diaz-Avalos's research journey began with a Ph.D. in Physics from Brandeis University, complemented by a degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
