Wes Gavins

Wes Gavins has extensive work experience in the cybersecurity field. Wes currently holds the position of VP, Head of Cybersecurity at LA28 since 2023. Prior to this, they worked at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory where they served as the Chief Information Security Officer from 2016 to 2020 and as a member of the IT Solutions Directorate from 2020 to 2023. Wes also has a background in business development, having worked as a Senior Consultant to Chief Technologist at Booz Allen Hamilton from 2001 to 2016, where they led the growth of the Los Angeles Cybersecurity business and was a leader in cyber security and information assurance services for the Department of Defense and Civil Space and ground systems. Wes' early career began with over 12 years of service in the United States Marine Corps, where they worked their way up from a Private to Captain and held a top secret security clearance.

Wes Gavins obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History from Guilford College, which they attended from 1988 to 1992. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Telecommunications Systems Management from National University, attending from 1995 to 1997.
