Volunteer at Lagos Food Bank

Linda Udom is an experienced medical laboratory scientist and dedicated volunteer with a strong commitment to community service. Currently volunteering at Lagos Food Bank since August 2022, Linda actively supports the organization's mission and engages in initiatives aimed at creating positive change. Previous volunteer experience includes a role as a Volunteer Field Medical Laboratory Scientist at FHI, where responsibilities involved HIV immunoassays and registration. Linda also served as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at Mega PCR Laboratory and Federal Medical Centre Katsina, specializing in HIV/AIDS management, clinical chemistry analysis, and ensuring quality assurance in laboratory practices. Linda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science from Madonna University Elele, earned between 2011 and 2016.

Lagos Food Bank

LAGOS Food Bank is a non-profit, nutrition-focused initiative committed to fighting hunger, reducing food waste, and solving the problem of malnutrition through targeted programs that seek to improve the nutrition/food intake of pregnant women and their infants who are not able to get the required nutrient during pregnancy and breastfeeding of their babies. Lagos Foodbank is the largest hunger-relief non-profit in Nigeria. We currently serve as the food hub to several other food pantries linking surplus food and groceries to people in need. In the year 2020, we served 9.6 million meals directly to beneficiaries and through our partner NGOs. Our primary goal at LFBI is to reach out to: Children from ages 0-16 Pregnant women and lactating mothers Patients with diet-related diseases Seniors from ages 50 years and above Destitute Extremely indigent families Our Programs: We engage in a range of other programs that serve the vulnerable, see details below; · Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention for Vulnerable mothers and Children(NUMEPLAN) : A 3-year project (2020 -2023) that seeks to improve the nutrition/food intake of Teenage Pregnant Girls (TPGs) and infants affected by malnutrition who are not able to get the required nutrient during pregnancy and breastfeeding of their babies. · Education Enhancement Intervention for Food Insecure Students (EDUFOOD) : A school feeding project with the aim of providing launch for low-income private schools in order to improve their nutritional status. · Family Farming Program: To reduce the prevalence of poverty among women and to empower women to be self-reliant & promote gender equality, · Job Placement Program: We marry the skills our beneficiaries with menial job opportunities that help them fend for themselves.
