Pati Vitt serves as the Director of Natural Resources at the Lake County Forest Preserve District since January 2019, previously holding the position of Manager of Restoration Ecology. From August 1999 to January 2019, Pati Vitt worked at the Chicago Botanic Garden as a Senior Scientist and Associate Conservation Scientist, focusing on the reproductive ecology and population demographics of rare and threatened plants. Pati Vitt also curated the National Tallgrass Prairie Seed Bank, overseeing seed banking efforts to conserve plant species from habitat threats such as urbanization and climate change. Pati Vitt holds a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Connecticut, a M.S. in Botany from the University of Maine, and a B.A. in Human Ecology from the College of the Atlantic.
