Betsy Birmingham

Betsy Birmingham is an accomplished educator and academic leader currently serving as the Interim Dean of the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law and a Professor of English at Lakehead University since July 2018. Previously, Birmingham held several positions at North Dakota State University from January 2001 to May 2024, including Chair of the Department of English, Professor, and Associate Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Birmingham is recognized as a generalist in English Studies, having taught over 20 courses in English and gender studies. Educational credentials include a PhD in Rhetoric and Professional Communication and a Master's degree in Creative Writing from Iowa State University, along with dual Bachelor's degrees in Art History and English Language and Literature from Dominican University.
