Brenda Nichols currently serves as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Lamar University, a position held since June 2001, and previously held the role of Dean of Arts & Sciences at the same institution. Prior to this, Brenda Nichols was the Chair of the School of Nursing at Old Dominion University from 1990 to 2001 and served as the Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Southern Cross University from 1987 to 1991. Brenda Nichols earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing with a focus on Nursing/Education from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis between 1978 and 1983, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville from 1974 to 1976, and an Associate of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville from 1969 to 1972. Education began with a diploma from Henderson City High School completed between 1964 and 1968.
