Per Wiger

Per Wiger is a Chefläkare and PhD at Västra Götalandsregionen with a career spanning from April 1999 to the present, focusing on patient safety measures at local, regional, and national levels, and has served in Sweden's Chief Physicians' Advisory Group from 2014 to 2021. Wiger has held various positions including Regional Emergency Physician and Member of the National Support Force, addressing serious incidents affecting Swedish citizens abroad. In addition, Wiger has been a board member of the Health and Care Accountability Board (HSAN) since June 2016, serves as a Medical Expert for Löf since February 2020, and has engaged in national patient safety work through Sveriges Kommuner och Regioner. Previous experience includes consulting orthopedic roles and editorial board membership at the Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. Wiger earned a PhD from the University of Gothenburg in 1999, specializing in elevated intramuscular pressure, along with extensive qualifications in surgery and orthopedics obtained over a period from 1980 to 2012.
