Nicole Smallwood, PHR, SHRM-CP has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Nicole currently holds the position of Benefits & HRIS Specialist at Langley Federal Credit Union, starting in April 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Old Point National Bank as a Human Resources Generalist from September 2021 to March 2023. In this role, they led the annual open enrollment process, managed vendor benefits relationships, and implemented new PTO plans.

Before joining Old Point National Bank, Nicole worked at Riverside Health System as a Benefits Specialist II from June 2019 to December 2021. Nicole'sresponsibilities included administering employee benefits and managing education benefit programs.

Prior to Riverside Health System, they were employed at American Traveler as a Compliance / Payroll Specialist from October 2016 to May 2019. During their time there, they were recognized for their exceptional contribution as an Employee of the Quarter and volunteered for an emergency relocation operation during a hurricane. Nicole also gained experience in multi-state payroll processing.

Earlier in their career, Nicole served as a Recruiting Coordinator at Sutherland Healthcare Solutions from April 2016 to October 2016. Nicole'sresponsibilities included managing full-cycle recruitment, candidate correspondence, and new employee compliance.

Nicole also worked at SAT PREPARATION GROUP, LLC. as an Instructional Designer/Recruiting Coordinator from February 2011 to March 2016. In this role, they coordinated curriculum restructuring, standardized recruitment and onboarding processes, and managed special projects.

Additionally, Nicole worked as a Program Coordinator at World Learning from July 2013 to February 2014. Nicole'sresponsibilities included advising students and coordinating activities with various organizations in Panama and Costa Rica.

Nicole Smallwood, PHR, SHRM-CP holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Rollins College. Nicole also has participated in educational programs related to environmental studies, including a course on Panama's tropical ecology, marine ecosystems, and biodiversity conservation at the School for International Training. Additionally, they took part in a Morocco Field Study program offered by Rollins College. In 2011, Nicole attended the University of Sydney for a semester abroad. Nicole has obtained certifications in the Human Resources field, including a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HRCI in October 2021 and a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from SHRM in January 2019.
