Brian Liebl

Director, Electrochemical And Test Engineering at Largo Resources

Brian Liebl has extensive experience in the engineering field, particularly in the manufacturing and process sectors. Brian started their career at Borg Warner Automotive as a High Velocity Chain Engineering Intern, where they analyzed processes, conducted laboratory experiments, and optimized annealing cycles. Brian then worked at SuperPower Inc. as an Engineering Intern, where they focused on improving product quality and yield through process analysis and experimentation.

After that, Liebl joined A123 Systems as a Process Technician and later as a Process Engineer. In these roles, they were responsible for equipment and process improvement, solvent recovery systems, and supporting the manufacturing of electrodes for lithium-ion batteries.

Liebl then moved on to GE Power & Water, where they worked as a Chemical Process Engineer in GE Energy Storage. Brian had a specific focus on manufacturing Durathon advanced industrial batteries and was involved in the sodium metal chloride technology.

Next, Liebl joined Ambri as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer, where they supported the pilot-scale manufacturing of high-temperature liquid metal battery cells. Brian gradually took on expanded responsibilities, including new product introduction, process ownership, and project planning and quoting. Brian eventually became the Senior Manager of Process and Manufacturing Engineering, overseeing a team of engineers, technicians, and interns.

Liebl's next role was as a Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer at Northrop Grumman. Here, they brought their expertise in manufacturing to develop and implement efficient processes.

Most recently, Liebl joined Largo Inc. as a Senior Chemical Process Engineer and progressed to roles as Electrochemical Engineering Manager and Director of Electrochemical and Test Engineering. Brian'sresponsibilities at Largo Inc. include managing teams, implementing process improvements, and overseeing electrochemical and test engineering.

Throughout their career, Liebl has demonstrated a strong background in process optimization, project management, and team leadership.

Brian Liebl has a Master of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, which they obtained from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, from 2006 to 2010. In addition to their formal education, Brian Liebl has obtained various certifications, including Six Sigma - Green Belt from Cornell University Systems Engineering in 2010 and Emergency Medical Technician - Basic from the New York State Department of Health in October 2007. Brian has also earned certifications in areas such as Establishing Product-Market Fit and Product Management Essentials from the University of Maryland, College Park, and Electric Utilities Fundamentals and Future and Electric Industry Operations and Markets from Coursera.
