Las Vegas Philharmonic
Jason Bonham is an accomplished musician and scholar, currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago starting September 2024, and a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of California Irvine Campus since September 2021, with a focus on cultural changes and their impact on public health. As Principal Viola for the Las Vegas Philharmonic since September 2012, and a Lecturer in both Sociology at Chapman University and Music at California State University, Long Beach, Bonham combines a robust background in music performance and education with ongoing research in public health. Previous roles include leadership positions in orchestral programs and service as an Executive Board Member of the American Viola Society, alongside extensive teaching experience and performance engagements with prestigious orchestras. Bonham’s academic credentials include a PhD in Public Health from UC Irvine, an MM in Music Performance from Northwestern University, and a degree in Music with a focus on string performance from Brigham Young University.

Your Symphony Orchestra. The Las Vegas Philharmonic, led by Music Director, Donato Cabrera, established its presence in Southern Nevada in 1998 and has continued to entertain growing audiences with its concert series and youth program. A proud resident company of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Las Vegas Philharmonic brings a valued and vibrant cultural dimension to the city, providing over 23,000 children with vital access to a music education program and showcasing local talents alongside stellar guest artists on the Reynolds Hall stage. At the orchestra’s core are 76 contracted professional musicians, many of whom are esteemed educators who perform in other professional productions in Las Vegas, bringing depth and variety to the organization.
