Brian Foley

VP of Research at Laser Thermal

Brian Foley has extensive work experience in various positions related to research and engineering. Brian is currently the VP of Research at Laser Thermal since July 2022. Prior to that, they worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University from August 2018 to June 2022. Before that, they were a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology from November 2016 to August 2018, where they worked under the guidance of Samuel Graham. Brian also gained experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia from August 2011 to October 2016, focusing on their Ph.D. research advised by Patrick E. Brian started their career as an RF Engineer at Virginia Diodes, Inc. from January 2009 to August 2011. Brian's early experience includes working as a Project Engineer (Co-op) at Hitchiner Manufacturing's Metal Casting Technology, Inc. from January 2007 to September 2007.

Brian Foley completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute from 2003 to 2007. Brian then pursued a Master's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering at the same institution from 2007 to 2009. Continuing their academic journey, Brian obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Nano-scale Thermal Transport in Electronic Materials, from the University of Virginia between 2011 and 2016.
