Robert Butera

Robert Butera has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Their most recent position was as the Head of Technology at Lasoo, starting in September 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Australia Post as a Solutions Architect, where they developed architectural roadmaps, recommended technologies, and conducted project planning.

From 2019 to 2023, Robert served as the Head of Investment Infrastructure Engineering at Iress. In this role, they led a team of over 200 staff and executed the technology strategy for the Investment Infrastructure department. Robert also held the position of Global Head of Engineering Capability, managing a team of technical leads and coaches, and ensuring the delivery of scalable software across different business segments.

Before Iress, Robert was the Head of Client First Technology at IOOF Holdings Ltd, where they established and led a team of engineers. Robert contributed to the establishment of Continuous Delivery and implemented a partnership-based delivery model. Robert also worked as a Technical Methods Coach at IOOF, providing coaching and support for product engineering teams.

Robert started their career as a Software Engineer/Solution Architect at ERG Group, where they designed and developed Java-based systems for the Sydney rail network. Robert also worked at Object Consulting, InfoMedix, and Dialog Information Technology, taking on various roles as a Solution Architect and Lead Architect.
