Carla López Castañeda

Director, Health Financing at Last Mile Health

Carla López Castañeda has a diverse work experience in the fields of health financing, energy access, and economic advisory. Carla is currently working at Last Mile Health as the Director of Health Financing. Prior to this, they held positions at Last Mile Health as a Senior Manager and Technical Coordinator in Health Financing, and as a Program Officer in Health Investment and Policy. Before joining Last Mile Health, Carla worked at the World Resources Institute as an Energy Access Intern, where they conducted research on the linkages between energy access and health outcomes in East Africa. Carla also has experience working at the Mexican Institute of Social Security, where they served as the Chief of the Socioeconomic and Sectorial Analysis Division, leading initiatives to improve healthcare access and quality. In addition, Carla worked as an Advisor in the Strategic Planning Unit and as an Economic Advisor at the Ministry of Finance in Mexico. Carla started their career as an Analyst in the Planning and Strategic Agenda Unit at the Office of the President in Mexico.

Carla López Castañeda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics - Economic Policy from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México from 2007 to 2012. Carla then pursued their Master's degree in Public Affairs with a focus on International Development at Princeton University from 2016 to 2018.
