Stuart Whetstone

Stuart Whetstone has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of cyber security. Stuart started their career in 2001 at Qantas Airways, where they served as a Security Analyst responsible for managing and maintaining firewalls. In 2004, they transitioned to IBM Australia as a Security Analyst in the Network Security Operations Team.

In 2005, Whetstone joined IAG and held various leadership positions, including Team Leader of Threat Management and Head of IT Security Services. Stuart was responsible for developing and implementing security strategies, managing security technologies, and leading specialized teams in delivering cyber security services.

In 2016, Whetstone joined Transurban as the Cyber Security Operations Centre Manager, where they established and managed a global enterprise cyber security operations centre. Stuart also served as the Security Operations Manager, overseeing the transformation and maturity of the security operations team.

In 2018, Whetstone joined LEIDOS CYBER, INC. as a Principal Cyber Security Consultant, providing CISO advisory roles and delivering cyber strategy and roadmaps for commercial entities and government departments.

In 2019, Whetstone joined Capgemini as the Director of Cyber Security, driving the cyber security practice and assisting organizations in formulating cyber security strategies.

Currently, Whetstone serves as the Head of Cyber Security Operations at Latitude Financial Services.

Stuart Whetstone completed their Bachelor of Computing degree in Networking and IT Security from Monash University, which they attended from 1997 to 2000. Prior to their university education, Stuart attended Caulfield Grammar School, but no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period.

In addition to their formal education, Stuart has obtained several certifications throughout their career. Stuart obtained the GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership (GSTRT) certification from GIAC Certifications in July 2019. In August 2011, they obtained the ITIL Foundations v3 certification from BCS. Stuart also obtained the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification from ISACA in October 2010, and the GIAC Security Essentials certification from GIAC in August 2006.
