Jade Dawson

Jade Dawson is a Board Member at Laurentian University. Jade has a background in environmental conservation and has worked extensively with water, zooplankton, and sediment sampling. In their previous role as a Field Technician with the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Jade participated in a 3-week intensive survey to collect data from 83 lakes in the Sudbury District.

Jade has also worked as an Aquatic Biologist with the Harkness Laboratory of Fisheries Research and as a Research Assistant with the Robinson Laboratory. In their role as a Research Assistant, Jade was responsible for conducting experiments, collecting data, and maintaining lab equipment.

Jade is passionate about environmental conservation and is committed to working towards protecting our natural resources.

Jade Dawson has a Master of Science in Biology from Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne, and a Honours Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from the University of Guelph. Jade also has certification from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration in Remote Sensing for Freshwater Habitats, and certification from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in OBBN Benthic Invertebrate Certificate. Additionally, Jade has certification from the Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association in ORCKA Basic Level 3 (Tandem), certification from the Canadian Rivers Institute in Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network Certification, and certification from the Canadian Yachting Association in Pleasure Craft Operators License. Finally, they have certification from Wilderness Medical Associates International in Advanced Wilderness First Aid, certification from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation in Class G Driver's License, and certification from Dr. Kelly Munkittrick and Dr. John Gunn in Effective Environmental Monitoring Practices Short Course.
