Team Leader – Ipsc And Gene Editing Core at Laverock Therapeutics

Anna Klucnika has a diverse work experience in the field of genetics and molecular biology. Anna is currently employed at Laverock Therapeutics as a Scientist in Gene Editing and Molecular Biology. Their role involves utilizing the company's GEiGS technology to develop programmable cell therapies. As one of the early members of the team, Anna is responsible for establishing experimental workflows and fostering a productive lab culture. Their specific tasks include generating iPSC cell lines, optimizing CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing workflows, and establishing genotyping workflows for knockout mutations and successful HDR.

Prior to their current role, Anna completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge, specializing in Mitochondrial Genetics and DNA Repair. During their time at the university, they also co-founded and co-developed a public engagement project called Letterbox Science. This project aimed to bridge the gap between scientists and the public, particularly those who are digitally excluded. Anna and their team designed and delivered postcards to community groups and schools, soliciting their scientific inquiries and providing personalized responses. The project has successfully reached over 150 adults and children.

In addition to their research and public engagement work, Anna has also gained teaching and mentoring experience. Anna served as an Undergraduate Supervisor at the University of Cambridge, guiding and supporting undergraduate students. Anna also worked as an Interviewer for Undergraduate Admissions, assessing and interviewing prospective students.

Furthermore, Anna has gained research experience through various summer internships. Anna participated in a BSDB Summer Studentship at the University of Oxford, focusing on plant genetics. Anna also completed a Summer Internship on Plant Genetics at the same institution.

Overall, Anna Klucnika's work experience demonstrates their expertise in genetics, molecular biology, gene editing, and public engagement. Anna has proven their ability to lead and establish experimental workflows, engage with diverse audiences, and contribute to the academic and research community.

Anna Klucnika completed a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology at the University of Cambridge from 2013 to 2016. Anna then pursued a Master of Philosophy in Developmental Mechanisms at the same university from 2016 to 2017. Anna continued their education at the University of Cambridge, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in DNA Repair and Mitochondrial Biology from 2017 to 2022.
