Katarina Jovanovic has more than 10 years of work experience in the field of biomedical research. Katarina is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Laverock Therapeutics, where they started in 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Mogrify as a Senior Scientist from 2020 to 2022, focusing on transdifferentiation therapies for retinal and corneal dystrophies.
From 2015 to 2020, Katarina worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Ophthalmology- UCL in London. Katarina'sresearch in this role involved using CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing to generate cell models for retinal degeneration. Katarina also worked on projects related to Alzheimer's disease, examining the efficacy of anti-LRP/LR antibody IgG1-iS18 and studying the role of the cellular prion protein.
Before their postdoctoral position, Katarina held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2009 to 2015. During this time, they organized animal trials and conducted research on Alzheimer's disease, specifically focusing on the role of the Laminin Receptor and the cellular prion protein. Katarina also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant during their time at the university.
In 2012, Katarina worked as a Junior Medical Scientist at Netcells Biosciences, where they processed umbilical cords and extracted stem cells for cryogenic storage and future use in stem cell therapy.
Overall, Katarina Jovanovic's work experience spans various research positions in the fields of ophthalmology, Alzheimer's disease, and stem cell therapy.
Katarina Jovanovic pursued their education at the School of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of the Witwatersrand from 2006 to 2013. During this period, they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the field of Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology.
