Lori Diachin

Principal Deputy Associate Director, Computing Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Lori Diachin is a seasoned professional in the field of applied mathematics and computing, holding the position of Principal Deputy Associate Director at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since August 2003. In this role, Lori oversees a team of 400 information technology professionals and has previously served as the Deputy Associate Director for Science and Technology in the Computation Directorate. Lori's leadership extends to directing the Center for Applied Scientific Computing, managing approximately 120 PhD-level scientists focusing on technologies critical to national security. Lori's expertise also includes managing the Department of Energy's Advanced Scientific Computing Research portfolio and developing algorithms for mesh quality improvement. Prior to tenure at Lawrence Livermore, Lori worked at Sandia National Laboratories and Argonne National Laboratory, contributing to research on superconductors and mesh technologies. Lori earned a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Virginia and a BA in Mathematics from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
