Yaakov Idell

Yaakov Idell is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in nuclear engineering and materials science. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor to the USAF Deputy Chief of Staff, Yaakov guides the execution of $23B nuclear modernization programs while managing 13 cross-functional teams. Previous roles include Materials Scientist and Technical Program Manager at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where interdisciplinary leadership was demonstrated on projects addressing environmental and nuclear materials challenges. As a Principal Scientist at Physical Sciences Inc., innovations in carbon polymer manufacturing were achieved, optimizing processing time and costs. Yaakov’s background includes significant positions in various organizations, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, University of Pittsburgh, and US Navy, complemented by a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering Technologies from Excelsior University.
