Sonia has a strong foundation in research and biotechnology, having held the position of vice president for research at Protein Engineering Corporation from 1987 to 1991 and worked as a Scientist at BioTechnica International between 1981 and 1984. Sonia obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) focusing on patent law and intellectual property from Suffolk University Law School (1996-2000) and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Microbiology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1966-1971), as well as a Master’s Degree in Genetics from Cornell University (1964-1965).
