Dan Young

Dan Young began their work experience in 2001 as a Tutor at Salisbury Cathedral School, where they coached various sports and provided support at a boarding house. Dan then worked as a Collections Officer at Kiwibank from 2005 to 2007. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Conversational English Teacher at G.Education.

In 2008, they returned to Kiwibank and took on various roles such as Business Support Specialist, Technical Business Analyst, Application Delivery Manager, and Development Manager. Dan also served as the Development Lead for the Digital Programme and led initiatives within the Kiwibank Technology UP//GRADE Programme.

In 2015, Dan joined Xero, where they held multiple positions including Product Manager, Global Head of Product for the Developer Platform, and GM Product for Developer Experience. Dan was responsible for delivering the platform and API gateway, overseeing software engineering and product management, and leading teams focused on developing an ecosystem for partners and small businesses.

After leaving Xero in 2022, Dan worked as the Head of Technology - Online Channels & Third Party at Bank of New Zealand, where they provided strategic, technical, and functional leadership for the channel and was responsible for the bank's application strategy and overall performance.

Currently, Dan is involved with RealESmart as an Advisor and has taken on the role of VP Product at LawVu starting in January 2023.

Dan Young attended Wanganui High School from 1996 to 2000. Dan then went on to study at Victoria University of Wellington from 2002 to 2005. At Victoria University, they obtained a BCA degree with a focus on E-Commerce and Information Systems. In addition to their formal education, Dan Young also obtained a certification as a Professional Scrum Master (PSM 1) from Scrum.org in August 2014.
