Job Description and Profile
The civil designer in the organization oversees and provides project drawing production. They are responsible for ensuring quality and quantity standards and will have advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. The civil designer will assist in mentoring and training CAD technicians. The civil designer works within general policies and procedures and practices significant independent judgment to choose proper actions.
Reports to: Senior civil designer
Duties and Responsibilities
Work with project managers to identify production workload.
Assists with managing project directory of all project files.
Assists with training and mentoring of CAD and graphics personnel.
Responsible for maintaining CAD standards.
Works independently to create base maps, drawings, and designs for residential and commercial projects, including:
Produce drawing packages for submitt
Setup and maintain styles and standards for Civil 3
Manage detail libraries including creating, modifying, and cataloging current and new company det
Jurisdictional research of standard plans, notes, and detai
Responsible for quality assurance and quality control of graphics and CAD engineering plans.
Assist with implementation of processes that increase productivity and efficiency.
Skills and Specifications
Education, Experience, Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as architectural, engineering, surveying or construction management, or experience considered sufficient to address the demands of the position.
Civil 3D experience required.
Minimum 10 years’ experience in CAD with increasing responsibility.
Minimum 8+ years’ experience in civil engineering field.
Minimum of 2 years’ supervision of staff and project production experience.
Experience working with local municipalities including King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties a plus.
