Wessam Afifi

Wessam Afifi has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Wessam is currently employed as a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer at LeapFrog Semiconductor, Inc. since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Mavenir as a Staff Systems Engineer from September 2020 to November 2021. Wessam also held the role of Senior Systems Engineer at Mavenir from December 2016 to August 2020, where they focused on 5G NR system design, link-level simulations, and standardization of fronthaul Intra-PHY split in xRAN/O-RAN.

Before joining Mavenir, Wessam worked as a Graduate Research Associate at The University of Arizona in 2016, conducting research in their field of expertise. Wessam also gained industry experience as a Wireless Systems Intern at Nokia Technologies from May 2015 to December 2015. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Arizona from January 2012 to May 2015. Their earliest work experience was as a Graduate Research Assistant at Nile University from October 2009 to September 2011.

From 2012 to 2016, Wessam Afifi attended the University of Arizona where they earned a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Prior to that, from 2009 to 2011, they completed their M.Sc. in Wireless Technologies at Nile University.

Their undergraduate studies were done from 2004 to 2009 at Alexandria University, where they obtained a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering.

In March 2023, they completed the course "Supervised Machine Learning: Regression and Classification" from Coursera.
