Shan Bhattacharya

As lease accounting subject matter expert, Shan supports software implementations by helping with analysis, design, configuration, user acceptance, and training with the primary goal of complying with the ASC 842 and IFRS 16 standards. He also helps train internal and partner resources, and supports product development, quality assurance, pre-sales, and post-sales support activities.

Over his last eight years with LeaseAccelerator, he has lead teams delivering outsourced lease management services to several Fortune 1000 customers. He was also part of the core team helping to build out the software product to meet the requirements of the new lease accounting standards.

Shan has three decades of experience in accounting, auditing, assurance, and management consulting in a wide variety of roles and various countries.He started his career in India with KPMG’s Indian affiliate, as assistant audit manager for leading public companies. This was followed by a position with Reliance Group, as accounts officer for their petrochemicals plant under construction. He then relocated to the Persian Gulf (Muscat and Dubai), where he started as controller for an advertising agency and then transitioned to senior internal auditor for diversified business conglomerates active in several industries including automotive, manufacturing, travel, IT, and money exchange.

After relocating to Canada, he worked in a controllership role in the software industry. His last job prior to joining LeaseAccelerator, was as account manager with Aon Global, where he managed the outsourced accounting function for several captive insurance companies.

Shan received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bombay University, and holds three professional designations: CA (India), CPA (Canada), and CIA (US).

He lives in Montreal, Quebec and is passionate about mitigating climate change and promoting ethical, healthy, and green initiatives such as plant based diet, electric transportation, and renewable energy.
