Professor Danielle McDermott

Professor Danielle McDermott is a distinguished academic at Leeds Trinity University, serving since January 2012 as Professor of Custodial Practice and Head of Prisons and Custody, while also leading the Academic Group for Psychology, Criminology, & Sociology. With expertise in Forensic Psychology, Professor McDermott teaches undergraduate courses on crime theories, adolescent offenders, risk assessment, violent behavior, treatment approaches, and self-harm and suicide. Prior experience includes guest lecturing at the University of Lincoln and holding various positions within HM Prison Service, where Professor McDermott contributed seven years to Forensic Psychology departments and developed treatment programs for vulnerable prisoners. Academic qualifications include a PhD from the University of Leeds and an MSc in Applied Forensic Psychology from the University of York.
