Cristy Norton

Cristy Norton has over 20 years of experience in various roles related to coding, compliance, revenue cycle, and health information management. Cristy'smost recent position was as the Director of Coding and Compliance at Legacy Health LLC since May 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Coding & Revenue Cycle Consultant at eCatalyst Healthcare Solutions from March 2020 to May 2020. From 2017 to 2020, they served as the Revenue Integrity/Coding Director at Surgery Partners, overseeing a team of coders and managers while implementing educational programs and conducting compliance audits. Before that, they held positions at VCU Health System, where they served as the Associate Administrator for Coding and Billing and also gained experience in IT, financial transformation, and corporate compliance. Cristy started their career as the Director of Health Information Management at UVA Health South from 1997 to 1999.

Cristy Norton attended Norfolk State University from 1995 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Health Information/Medical Records Administration/Administrator. In addition to their degree, they also achieved several certifications. In May 1998, they became a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Professional Coding Instructor (CPC-I) from the AAPC. Cristy also obtained the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification from the AHIMA Foundation in May 1998.
