Claire O'Connell

Claire O'Connell is an accomplished legal professional with extensive experience in child and family law, demonstrated through various roles in legal research, policy development, and education. Currently serving as a Board Member for LGBT Ireland, Claire actively contributes to the LGBT+ Parenting Alliance and has been instrumental in drafting key legislation such as the Children and Family Relationships Amendment Bill 2023. As a Legal Clerk at the Legal Aid Board, Claire manages a significant caseload and supports clients through detailed case planning and documentation. Previous positions include Assistant Lecturer in Child Law and Children's Rights, Policy Officer at The Ombudsman for Children's Office, and Legal Researcher for several key institutions. Claire holds a PhD, a Master’s Degree, and a Civil Law degree, supplemented by a Diploma in Irish for Lawyers from prestigious institutions.
