Amy Slotek

Amy Slotek has a diverse work experience in the legal and advocacy field. Amy began their career as an Instructor at Community Living Toronto from 2001 to 2003. Amy then worked as a Legal Advisor at the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Refugee Advocacy and Support Program from 2004 to 2008, where they advocated for clients during refugee status determination procedures and coordinated staff activities. Amy then joined the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe as a Programme Officer and Consultant from 2011 to 2012, where they coordinated events and conducted research on freedom of religion, hate crimes, and anti-discrimination. Amy then worked as an Articling Fellow at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association from 2012 to 2013. Amy continued their work at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association as Counsel - Inquest into the Death of Ashley Smith from 2013 to 2013. In 2015, Amy joined Legal Aid Ontario as a Staff Lawyer, where they designed and implemented legal service delivery models and practiced law in various areas. Amy also served as the Project Lead for the innovative 'Justice in Time' project, providing legal support to homeless clients with mental health disabilities. Throughout their career, Amy has demonstrated a commitment to advocacy and social justice.

Amy Slotek's education history begins in 1997 at McGill University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Development Studies. Amy completed their undergraduate studies in 2001. Ten years later, in 2010, Amy attended the University of Windsor, where they obtained a Juris Doctor degree.
