Cat Mercer

Cat Mercer has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Cat is currently working as a Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario since October 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Criminal Lawyer at Mercury Defence Law from January 2020 to October 2022.

In 2019, Cat worked at Cooper Jørgensen as a Criminal Lawyer from June to November, and before that, they were a Student at Law at the same company from March to June. Cat gained further legal experience as a Student at Law at Edward H. Royle & Partners LLP from July 2018 to March 2019.

Before pursuing a legal career, Cat gained valuable experience in different roles. Cat worked as a Student Caseworker at Downtown Legal Services from May to August 2017, a Student Assistant at David Berg Barrister Solicitor from June 2016 to May 2017, and a Support Analyst at TC Transcontinental from October 2014 to July 2015.

In addition, Cat has experience in the technology sector. Cat worked as a Software Developer at Magnet Forensics in the summer of 2013 and as a Research Software Developer at the University of Waterloo from September to December 2012. Cat also had an internship as a Geomechanics Intern at Rocscience Inc from January to April 2012.

Cat Mercer attended the University of Waterloo from 2009 to 2014, where they completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc) degree in Engineering. Following this, from 2015 to 2018, they pursued their Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree at the University of Toronto, specializing in the field of Law.
