Megan Howatt has a diverse and extensive work experience. Megan started their career as a Human Rights Intern at the UNESCO Cluster Office for Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger in 2005. Megan then worked as an Aboriginal Summer Literacy Camp Counsellor at Frontier College in 2007. In 2008, they held two summer positions, one as a Summer Student at Educaloi and another as a Legal Research Assistant at McGill University. At McGill University, they conducted research on the criminalization of HIV/AIDS and the use of the concept of dignity in equality litigation.
In 2009, Megan worked as a Summer Student at the Constitutional Law Branch, Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario. The following year, they worked as a Law Clerk/Auxiliaire Juridique at the Federal Court of Canada. From 2011 to 2012, they served as a Student-at-Law at the Constitutional Law Branch, Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario.
Most recently, Megan has been employed as Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario since November 2012.
Megan Howatt attended the University of Ottawa from 2000 to 2004, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History and Communications. From 2004 to 2005, they continued their education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in History. Megan furthered their studies at McGill University from 2006 to 2009, where they obtained dual degrees, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.), focusing on the field of Law.
