Surekha Bhargavan has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Surekha currently holds the position of Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario. Prior to this, they worked as an Associate Lawyer at Shank Law Professional Corporation. Surekha also served as an Attorney at Trinitas Law.

Surekha Bhargavan gained experience as a Legal Intern at Barapp Law Firm, where they were responsible for drafting and sending payment letters, sending production requests, analyzing medical records, and conducting online searches.

Earlier in their career, Surekha Bhargavan worked as a Consultant Lawyer at the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in India, where they were involved in detecting and prosecuting white-collar crimes. Surekha Bhargavan has also contributed to the social sector by working as a Manager in the Legal Aid Program at Justice Ventures International. There, they coordinated a panel of volunteer lawyers to provide legal services to the poor and oppressed.

Surekha Bhargavan's education history begins in 1998 when they enrolled at Delhi University to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) degree in Business Administration and Management, which they completed in 2001. Following this, they attended Delhi University once again, this time to pursue a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), which was later evaluated by World Education Services as Juris Doctor in Canada. Surekha completed their LL.B. degree in 2004 and also obtained a Certificate of Enrolment from the Bar Council of Delhi - India in the same year.

In 2005, Surekha Bhargavan pursued a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Law from Kurukshetra University, which they completed in 2008. Surekha then decided to further enhance their legal knowledge by enrolling in a Graduate Certificate Program in Paralegal studies at Humber College in 2019.

Additionally, Surekha Bhargavan obtained the Barrister & Solicitor certification from the Law Society of Ontario in August 2020.
