Adv. Mark Andrew Hawyes has extensive experience in the legal field, serving as a self-employed Advocate, Senior Mediator, and Arbitrator since December 2006, with a focus on alternative dispute resolution in labour, commercial, and tax matters. Currently, Mark holds positions as a Mediator and Arbitrator with the Legal Practice Council since January 2011, and has provided numerous services as Chair in disciplinary inquiries, mediations, and arbitrations. Previously, Mark served as an Advocate at Counsel from January 1995 to 2019, representing parties in various criminal and civil courts, and as an Acting Judge in the High Court from July 2015 to October 2017. Mark began the legal career as an Additional Magistrate from January 1990 to January 1995, presiding over multiple court types in Durban. Mark holds a Professional Certificate in Tax Dispute Resolution from The Tax Faculty and a BIURIS LLB degree from the University of South Africa, along with foundational education from Queens College in Queenstown, South Africa.
